The Birthplace at Baptist includes a 32-bed, Level 3B, state-of-the-art Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The NICU is staffed by board certified neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners, NICU certified nurses as well as certified respiratory therapists.
Our staff provides high level care for your baby in a family-centered environment.

Program distinctives include:

  • Use of the latest in developmental equipment
  • Dedicated certified occupational therapist
  • Individual private rooms for stepdown babies. Allows parents the opportunity to stay with infant for long periods of time.
  • Very liberal visitation policy, with sibling visitation allowed.
  • Bedside breast pump available for mothers who choose to breastfeed
  • Spacious, private rooms for critical NICU
  • Kangaroo care with infants and parents. Allows skin-to-skin contact between parent and infant for even the tiniest of preemies.
  • Infant CPR provided to parents before discharge
  • Rooming-in rooms provided to transition from NICU to home
  • Isolation room available in unit if needed
  • Discharge planning nurse to assist with needs prior to discharge
  • Pediatric ophthalmologist to monitor infant progress. Ability to perform laser surgery at bedside if needed.
  • Pediatric subspecialists available for consultation, including cardiology and gastroenterology
