A. Michael Koury, MD, FACS



Board certified in both general Surgery and in the subspecialty of Thoracic Surgery, Dr. Koury earned his medical degree at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where he also completed his surgical residency and cardiothoracic fellowship. Presently, he serves as a clinical instructor in Thoracic Surgery at the University of Mississippi.

The author of several peer-reviews publications, Dr. Koury has been a presenter at numerous professional meetings, particularly regarding the treatment of :: hyperhidrosis and :: pectus excavatum. Additionally, Dr. Koury performs the video assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) lobectomy for the treatment of lung cancer. This allows complete removal of lung cancers via three small incisions. The procedure greatly reduces the pain associated with thoracotomy (opening the chest), and allows a shorter hospital stay.

Dr. Koury is a member of Southeastern Surgical Society, Central Medical Society of Mississippi, Jackson Surgical Society, Mississippi State Medical Association, Mississippi Thoracic Society, American College of Surgeons, Southern Thoracic Surgical Association and Society of Thoracic Surgeons.
