Baptist offers Free Prostate Screenings
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men, but when detected early, survival rates are excellent. Join Baptist and physicians from Mississippi Urology Clinic for FREE prostate screenings, including a PSA test and a digital rectal exam. Screenings are available for men. A Woman's Cancer Concerns

How important are yearly Pap smears? What is your risk for ovarian cancer? Get the answers to these questions and more during this free seminar featuring speakers gynecologic oncologists Mildred Ridgway, M.D., and James Moore, M.D. Optional box lunch provided. Can taking herbal supplements improve your body's response to cancer treatment? Does therapeutic massage ease anxiety? Join medical oncologist Gerry Ann Houston, M.D., to find out what complimentary and alternative medicine is, what works, and what doesn't. Cyclists Curing Cancer Century Ride
September 20, 7:30 a.m.
Join the Cyclists Curing Cancer Century Ride, benefiting Baptist Cancer Services' Serenity Garden for cancer patients and their families. The journey begins at the Baptist Healthplex-Clinton and stretches along the beautiful, historic Natchez Trace. Participants will receive a Century Ride T-shirt and a pasta lunch after the event. Rest stops will be stocked with water, sports drinks, snacks, and fruit. The event will take place Saturday, September 20, at 7:30 a.m. at the Baptist Healthplex-Clinton. And Baby Makes Three Seminar
September 23, 11:45 a.m.
Couples who may be starting a family soon could benefit from our lunchtime seminar “And Baby Makes Three.” Led by obstetrician/gynecologists Meredith Travelstead, MD, Amanda Nicols, MD and Erica Ory, MD, the seminar will cover topics ranging from preconception care to delivery. Understanding Your Path Report
September 30, 6 p.m.
As a cancer patient, your pathology report gives your physician a road map to determine the course of treatment. Join pathologist Nanette Pinkard, M.D., and Pat Herrington, M.H.S., CLDir (NCA), M.T., (ASCP), Baptist's Clinical Laboratory Director, to find out what's included in the report and what it means. Baptist Hosts Free Creative Arts Program for Cancer Patients
Baptist Cancer Services offers a creative arts program, including knitting, and art therapy for cancer patients at no cost. All events take place in the Hederman Cancer Center.
* “Knit Together” is held every third Tuesday of the month at noon.
* “Art Therapy” will be held at noon each Wednesday

Baptist Cancer Services Offers Free Rehab Classes
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 2 p.m.
Baptist's Cancer Rehab Program is offered Tuesdays and Thursdays at 2:00 p.m. every week at no cost in the Activity Room of the Hederman Cancer Center, 1227 North State Street, Jackson, Miss. To register, call the Baptist Health Line at 1-800-948-6262 or 601-948-6262. The class helps cancer patients enhance cardiovascular strength and endurance and immune system and bone density. It helps to increase overall strength and stamina, decrease fatigue, weight loss and improve digestion.

Pregnancy, Childbirth, Childhood Issues

Childbirth Classes
Four-Week classes, 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Mondays or Tuesdays.
Weekend classes are also available. Call for dates.

Classes include an overview of the labor and delivery process, birthing, medication and anesthesia options, recovery and postpartum adjustments and infant care. A hospital tour is included. 1405 N. Natal Fit
Call for Dates and Times

These special aquatic classes are for expectant mothers who want to maintain their fitness level and new mothers who want to get back into shape. (A physician's release is required.) NatalFit is taught at the Baptist Healthplex-Jackson, 717 Manship Street, Jackson. For more information, call 601-948-6262.

Safety is No Accident: CPR for Infants
Each Wednesday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

This weekly class teaches parents about injury prevention and CPR techniques for infants and small children. Education Resource Center, Lower Level, Baptist Medical Center. Cost is $15.00 ($5.00 for those delivering at Baptist.) Pre-registration is required. Call 1-800-948-6262.

Baptist’s Nutrition Center offers “Way to Go Kids®” Weight Loss Program.
Wednesdays, 3:45 p.m.

(A new four-week session begins the first Wednesday of each month.)

Way to Go Kids® is a four-week program designed to help overweight and under-active kids build lifelong, healthy attitudes about food and fitness. New sessions begin the first Wednesday of each month from 3:45 - 4:45 p.m. Pre-registration is required. For more information and cost, call 601-973-1624.

Binge Eating Workshop
Call for Dates and Times

The Nutrition Center offers a program that can help break the harmful cycle of binge eating. Licensed, professional counselors help binge eaters discover the hidden causes behind their eating patterns and give practical guidance to help them gain control of their eating habits. Support Groups/Topical Programs

Caregivers Support Group Held at Baptist Adult Day in Clinton
September 16, 11 a.m.
Baptist Adult Day Health Services and the Alzheimers Association will host an Alzheimers Support Group Meeting the third Tuesday of each month from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. The meetings will be held in the conference room next to Baptist Adult Day Health Services-Clinton at 503 E. Diabetes Support Group
September 4, 10 a.m.

The support group meets the first Thursday of the month at 10:00 a.m. in Suite 410 of the Medical Arts Building West on State Street.
